On Tuesday, June 2, 2026, an incredibly important health awareness initiative took place at our Men's Shelter in Hlohovec. Reflecting on the unique conditions and daily challenges faced by our clients, we organized an educational workshop focused on personal hygiene and the effective prevention of infectious diseases. The event was held in close partnership with "Zdravé regióny" (Healthy Regions), a non-profit organization under the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic dedicated to long-term health improvement across communities.
Practical Habits Explained Clearly
The session was led by health support assistants Paulína Balážová and Gabriela Štefková. They introduced the fundamental role of daily hygiene in safeguarding human health in a highly accessible, respectful, and clear manner. The practical insights were supported by interactive demonstrations, allowing the clients to try out and master proper hygienic procedures useful for their everyday routines.
Focusing on Hepatitis A Prevention
Special emphasis during the workshop was placed on the risks regarding Hepatitis A (commonly known as the dirty-hands disease). The lecturers detailed its modes of transmission, symptoms, and most importantly, methods of active protection. The clients appreciated the welcoming space dedicated to a Q&A discussion, where they asked questions about specific health-related situations that truly mattered to them.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Paulína Balážová and Gabriela Štefková for their highly professional, patient, and deeply compassionate approach towards our clients. Our thanks also go to Danica Bieliková, the regional coordinator of Healthy Regions for the Nitra Region, and our dedicated social worker Katka Janechova. Their prompt coordination, seamless teamwork, and enthusiasm were essential to the smooth execution and overall success of this meaningful event.
