Restoring Lost Dignity
Losing one's home is one of the most difficult life situations a person can face. It often means not only losing a roof over one's head but also a loss of safety, social ties, and self-esteem. At The Salvation Army, we believe that everyone deserves a second chance.
Our goal is not just to provide food to survive the day. We strive for comprehensive assistance that addresses the causes of homelessness and helps people get back on their feet.
What Does Our Help Look Like in Practice?
Safe Shelter
We operate night shelters and hostels (e.g., in Galanta and Hlohovec), where people find warmth, a clean bed, and safety from the dangers of the street.
Hot Meals
We regularly distribute hot soups and food parcels. Hunger is the first problem we must solve to be able to address others.
Hygiene and Clothing
We provide the opportunity to shower, do laundry, and get clean clothes. Basic hygiene is the first step toward restoring dignity.
Professional Counseling
Our social workers help with processing documents, job searching, and debt resolution so the client can return to normal life.
